About Dave Gamble
Dave is dedicated to passing on the education of his teachers Ray Hunt and Buck Brannaman. Dave will always be an avid student of the horse continually learning and growing his knowledge to preserve this style of horsemanship for generations to come.
Dave Gamble retired after owning and operating Mountain Trail Outfitters for over 30 years in Livingston, Montana. In 2008 Dave moved to the Flathead Valley with his wife Courtney, and their two boys Dylan and Hunter.
Creating Standing Heart Ranch, Dave’s desire for self development grew as he concentrated more on his horsemanship. Riding with the late Ray Hunt for 7 years and Buck Brannaman for over 30 years now and continually being a student of the horse. Sponsoring clinics for both of these great horseman for many years. Dave hosts Buck Brannaman each November at Standing Heart Ranch where spectators are always welcome.
“Those two men changed my life with horses and people forever. It has been 30 plus years and I am still observing what takes place between the horse and human.”
Ray told me one day. “We have the horse figured out, now go figure out how to help the human so we can help the horse”. That will continue to be my life long journey to honor the two men that took so much time to help me still to this day.
Dave still rides and works with horses and riders of all disciplines at their ranch in Northwest Montana. The ranch offers lessons, horsemanship and cow working clinics along with cow working competitions.
Dave was also a mentor to scholarship recipients through the Legacy of Legends program when it was in operation. “To be able to help the scholarship recipients of the Legacy of Legends in search of their horsemanship journey is a humbling honor.”
